Yes, you can throw nails. 

The smallest I throw are 6″ nails that I have just ground a small point on.

I got this idea from years ago when I saw darts throwers, in the pub, throwing 6″  nails in darts competitions.

In essence you hold the nail between forefinger and thumb, something like a pencil.

Obviously the easiest way is throw via the point only. This means you are employing half spins.

I usually throw 1/2 spin about 6′,  12′ for 1 1/2 spin etc.

A lot of fun can be had with a set of nails and an old dartboard.

Actually I have now got 8″ and 12″ nails. The 12″ ones throw just like knives. If you can find them please buy some and enjoy the fun.

P.S. They are painted orange because they are easier to find when you invariably lose the odd one or two.
